# 10,000 Hryvnia for the Rear: Ukraine's Ministry of Defense Approves Conditions for a New Military Allowance

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has formulated clear criteria for granting new financial support to military personnel serving in rear units. This refers to an allowance of 10,000 hryvnia, which will be available to a wide range of fighters who do not receive other major combat payments.

### Who will receive 10,000 hryvnia

According to RBC-Ukraine, this payment is addressed to those who are not entitled to higher rewards of 30, 50, or 100 thousand hryvnia. An important clarification is that the presence or absence of a signed contract does not affect the receipt of this aid. This means that the status of the serviceman is not a limiting factor in this matter.

The Ministry of Defense also clarified the situation regarding overlapping payments: if a serviceman is entitled to several types of additional compensation, only one will be accrued — the highest of them. Thus, the system excludes the duplication of benefits.

### Payment schedule and exceptions

The first payment for June will be received by fighters simultaneously with other rewards for this period. However, the department has also determined cases where the "rear supplement" will not be accrued. These exceptions apply to situations where the serviceman already receives other types of compensation exceeding or equivalent to this allowance.

### New contracts and increased pay

Alongside the introduction of the new allowance, the Ministry of Defense presented three new types of contracts for military personnel: basic, combat, and infantry-storming. For those who will hold infantry-storming positions, the monthly pay can reach 460,000 hryvnia. This amount includes a basic salary of 20,000 hryvnia, as well as additional payments under the "10/20/40" system.

New contracts provide not only high salaries but also additional rewards for the successful completion of combat tasks, a one-time payment after signing the first contract, and an annual health resort allowance. In addition, special payments have been introduced for the elimination of enemy manpower and the capture of Russian occupiers.

### Legislative basis

On June 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law amending the state budget, which provides for an increase in the pay of Ukrainian military personnel. This decision became part of a comprehensive measure to support the army and increase the motivation of the personnel.
