On October 10, 2026, the capital of Ukraine faced another massive attack by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Around 2:00 PM, loud explosions rocked Kyiv amid an air raid alert and recorded enemy activity. Shortly thereafter, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko officially confirmed that a strike hit an infrastructure facility and a restaurant building located in the densely populated Obolon district of the capital. ### Chronology of the attack and destruction in the Obolon district According to city authorities and emergency services, the strike on the restaurant in Obolon caused a massive fire. Fire crews and ambulance teams promptly began working at the scene. Initially, four casualties were reported, but as debris was cleared and data was verified, the number increased to six people. Five of the wounded were immediately hospitalized in city medical facilities, with one of them in critical condition. In addition, falling debris from a downed missile was recorded in the courtyard of a residential building in the same district. ### Consequences of strikes in the Solomianskyi district Simultaneously with the incident in Obolon, a severe situation unfolded in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv. Around 12:50 PM, debris from a hostile drone fell onto the roof of a 25-story residential building, causing structural damage. Shortly afterwards, reports emerged that debris had also hit an eight-story office building nearby. Emergency services continue to inspect the areas to identify any unexploded ordnance and assist citizens. ### Energy and water supply issues The new wave of shelling caused severe damage to critical infrastructure facilities. Due to damage to a key energy facility in the Kyiv region, the power supply situation in the capital itself sharply deteriorated. Citizens also faced temporary interruptions in the supply of drinking water. Utility services and specialized experts are working around the clock to eliminate the consequences of the accidents and restore stable electricity and water supplies to residential areas. ### Contradictory data The information space periodically features disparate reports regarding the overall scale of destruction and the exact number of weapons used. Official Ukrainian agencies report targeted debris impacts and direct strikes on civilian infrastructure that resulted in injuries to six people in the Obolon district. At the same time, independent international observers and regional summaries from previous months record larger tragedies with higher death tolls, which sometimes confuses readers when comparing current updates with the history of past massive shelling of the Kyiv region.
