A significant increase in the demand for updating central power has been recorded in Ukraine. According to a recent poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KMIS), 88% of the country's citizens support the idea of a power reset after the end of hostilities. This is 15 percentage points higher than three years ago.

### Public Opinion Dynamics

According to the study published by RBC-Ukraine, the desire for change in the political system has become dominant. If in 2023, 73% of respondents supported a change of power at least at one level, by the summer of 2026, this figure reached 88%. At the same time, the share of citizens who believe that no one needs to be changed decreased from 19% to 5%.

Experts note a consistent trend: the majority of Ukrainians consistently oppose holding elections during an ongoing war. However, the intention to hold a vote immediately after the cessation of fire is supported by almost 9 out of 10 respondents.

### Influence of Trust in the President

Data analysis revealed a strong correlation between the attitude towards the head of state and the desire for political change. Among respondents who "do not trust at all" the president, 97% spoke in favor of a power reset. At the same time, even among those who "fully trust" Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 33% supported the idea of updating the power.

### Research Methodology

The poll was conducted from May 7 to June 3, 2026, on KMIS's own initiative. The study involved 1,000 adult citizens living in the territory controlled by Ukraine. The data collection method was telephone interviews. The formal statistical error does not exceed 4.1%.

### Position of the Authorities

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that holding elections is impossible without a ceasefire and the creation of safe conditions for voting. The head of state also called on international partners to help restore the infrastructure necessary for organizing the electoral process. The Verkhovna Rada supported this position, stating that a consensus had been reached.
