# Advance Stalled: Why Russian Troops Have Halted Near Kupiansk

The situation on the Kupiansk front has changed significantly in recent days. According to data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), published by RBC-Ukraine, Russian troops, which attempted limited offensives on July 21 and 22, failed to hold their new positions. American analysts point to a complex of reasons that have paralyzed enemy activity in this sector.

### Drone Barrier and Logistics Issues

One of the key reasons for the failure of the attacks was the high density of Ukrainian drones. A spokesperson for the Ukrainian brigade responsible for defending this sector noted that the active use of our drones creates an insurmountable obstacle for the use of Russian aviation, specifically the "Lancet" and "Molniya" attack UAVs. This deprives the enemy of the ability to effectively correct fire and suppress the defense.

Furthermore, units of the Russian 347th Motor Rifle Regiment, conducting combat operations in this direction, are facing a critical fuel shortage. The logistical collapse has resulted in the immobilization of equipment — from motorcycles to all-terrain vehicles and passenger transport. Without mobility, conducting active offensive operations becomes impossible.

### Manpower Shortage and Strikes on Rear Areas

Analysts also note a lack of trained personnel among Russian troops. Soldiers lacking sufficient training are unable to perform complex tactical tasks under conditions of dense enemy defense. Limited attempts to break through in the direction of Borova, which were claimed by Russian military bloggers, ended in failure.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces continue to strike enemy rear areas. Geolocation data confirms a successful attack by a MiG-29 fighter jet on a Russian drone control point east of Kuriivka. Two GBU-39 guided bombs were used to destroy the target, causing significant damage to the enemy's command and control system.

### Global Context of the Conflict

Parallel to the events on the front line, other important processes are developing. It has become known that Germany and the United Kingdom are secretly developing new missiles intended to strike targets within the Russian Federation. Additionally, Russia is actively deploying its own analog of the Starlink satellite system, which could change the balance in the sphere of communications and reconnaissance.
