The situation on the front lines in Ukraine has undergone radical changes, where technological superiority has become the decisive factor, outweighing numerical advantage. According to US intelligence data, the average lifespan of a Russian serviceman at the front has shrunk to critical levels — from 20 to 30 minutes. Experts cite the mass deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with artificial intelligence as the primary factor determining this statistic.

This was stated by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, whose comments were reported by Bloomberg. According to him, the data obtained by US intelligence fully correlates with information from open sources, indicating the catastrophic situation of Russian army recruits.

### Technology as the Main Killer

Ratcliffe emphasized that drones with artificial intelligence have transformed into specialized and inexpensive machines for destroying human forces. It is precisely this technological evolution that allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine to effectively contain the enemy's advance, despite Russia's significant superiority in personnel numbers.

US officials estimate the Russian army's weekly losses at approximately 7,000 people. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously confirmed this trend, noting that more than 80% of enemy targets are currently destroyed precisely with the help of unmanned systems.

### Western Reaction and New Investments

The high effectiveness of Ukrainian developments has attracted the attention of Washington and its allies. Currently, the possibility of additional funding for drone creation programs is being considered. Furthermore, Western partners are seeking access to the technologies underlying the artificial intelligence systems that demonstrate such high effectiveness on the battlefield.

### The Cost of Capture and the Manpower Crisis

The scale of losses becomes obvious when analyzing tactical successes. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Russian troops lose more than 400 soldiers to capture just one square kilometer of territory in the Donetsk region. Such a price for advancement makes any offensive operations extremely ineffective.

Against the backdrop of intensified hostilities and high losses, Russia is experiencing a sharp decline in interest in military service. Over the last year, the number of Russians willing to fight has decreased by 20%. Statistics for the first quarter of 2026 show that only 71,200 people received one-time bonuses for conscription after signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense, which indicates a deep manpower crisis in the Russian Armed Forces.
