Ukrainian tennis player Angelina Kalinina secured an important victory in the first round of the WTA 250 tournament in Hamburg. For the 29-year-old athlete, this success marked the first step towards regaining her competitive form following a series of poor performances and a break in her career.

In a tense battle, the 56th-ranked player in the world defeated Spanish representative Caitlin Kevedo. The match was far from easy: the Ukrainian had to exert maximum effort to tip the scales in her favor.

### Dramatic turn of events

The first set proved to be a mixed bag for Kalinina. Despite confidently leading with a score of 5:2, she had to dig deep after dropping three consecutive games. Ultimately, the set concluded with Kalinina's victory at 7:5.

The drama continued in the second set. At 4:4, Angelina managed to win the decisive game on her opponent's serve, which put her on match point. However, she only managed to convert the advantage on her third attempt, further highlighting the difficulty of the contest.

The victory in Hamburg became the first ray of light in this period.
