# iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence: How AI Agents Will Start Automatically Changing Your Passwords

At the WWDC 2026 conference, Apple unveiled a major update to its security system. Engineers demonstrated a new Apple Intelligence feature designed to radically change the approach to credential management. The upcoming iOS 27 will feature an "agentic" password manager capable of not just warning about threats but also eliminating them independently by changing insecure passwords without user intervention.

Until now, protection tools in Safari and the Passwords app were limited to the role of an observer. The system could detect weak, reused, or already compromised credentials and suggest generating a stronger option during registration. However, the final decision always remained with the human: the user had to manually make changes. Now, this process is planned to be fully automated.

The key innovation is the support for so-called "agentic actions." This means that artificial intelligence is granted the right to independently perform certain tasks on behalf of the device owner. In the context of security, this manifests as the automatic replacement of credentials for supported services. If the system detects that a password has become weak or appeared in a data breach database, it will initiate its replacement with a secure one and save the new data in the manager.

Developers paid special attention to technical implementation and privacy issues. The new functionality is based on the next generation of Foundation Models — proprietary language models used in the Apple Intelligence ecosystem. Notably, the company confirmed the use of Google technologies in the creation of these models. According to engineers, models from the Gemini family were used to train and refine their own algorithms.

Despite the use of external technologies, Apple maintains strict control over user data. Most operations are performed directly on the device. In cases where cloud resources are required, requests are processed through the Private Cloud Compute infrastructure. The company states that with this approach, personal data is not stored on servers and remains inaccessible to both Apple and third parties.

The launch of the updated password manager and other Apple Intelligence features is scheduled for the second half of 2026. New capabilities will become available to users with the release of the iOS 27 operating system.
