London-based startup Applied Computing has made a significant move in the industrial artificial intelligence sector. The company has introduced a new model named Orbital, specifically designed for the needs of the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. The primary goal of the technology is to analyze data from thousands of sensors on complex industrial facilities in real-time to optimize the operation of the entire plant.

### The Problem of Inefficient Data Utilization

According to information published by TechCrunch, modern oil and gas facilities are equipped with thousands of sensors that continuously record critical metrics such as temperature, pressure, and viscosity. However, Applied Computing CEO Callum Adamson notes that the industry currently utilizes only 8 percent of the total volume of data collected.

The Orbital model is designed to bridge this gap. The system combines sensor readings with engineering documentation and fundamental physico-chemical laws, allowing for a complete picture of what is happening in production.

### From Days to Seconds: Simulation Speed

The key advantage of the new technology lies in the speed of information processing. In the past, verifying how changes in one part of a plant would affect the entire system took days or even weeks. Now, with Orbital, this process is completed in a matter of seconds.

Such responsiveness is crucial for reducing energy consumption and ensuring the stability of production processes.

### Investments and Competition

To develop the project, Applied Computing managed to raise $20 million in investment. The round was led by engineering giant CBR and venture fund Databricks Ventures. Despite the presence of strong competitors in the market, such as AspenTech and AVEVA, Adamson sees the company's main advantage not in the database, but in the team. The startup has managed to assemble top researchers in the field of artificial intelligence.

The raised funds will be directed towards international business expansion, hiring new engineers, and deepening research. Such digital transformation technologies could become an important tool for countries where the oil and gas industry is the backbone of the economy, for example, for Uzbekistan.
