Dmytro Karchuk, co-owner of one of Ukraine's largest business clubs, has been detained by Polish border guards. The incident occurred at the border with Poland, where the man was stopped based on an international arrest warrant.

Information about the detention was confirmed by the entrepreneur's colleagues and lawyers. President of CEO Club Ukraine, Serhiy Haidachuk, commenting on the situation, expressed the opinion that the arrest could be the result of the businessman's personal data being used by third parties. According to him, cases of identity theft and crimes committed under someone else's name are becoming increasingly common.

### Accusation from Germany

After the arrest, Karchuk was placed in a pre-trial detention center. Lawyers found out that the arrest warrant was issued by German law enforcement agencies. According to the German investigation, the head of the Ukrainian business community is involved in the theft of a batch of electric bicycles committed in September 2024.

According to the investigation data, the culprit personally arrived at a warehouse in Germany by truck, used forged transport documents, and stole 171 electric bicycles. The goods did not reach their destination. Serhiy Haidachuk clarified that the amount of damage is estimated at almost 127,000 euros.

### Alibi and Defense

Dmytro Karchuk's lawyers categorically deny their client's involvement in the incident. The defense claims that they have evidence of the businessman's presence in Ukraine during the period when, according to the investigation, he was committing the theft in Germany.

Currently, the Polish court is not considering the question of the defendant's guilt. The only task of the court at this stage is to decide on the execution of the European arrest warrant and the extradition of the German citizen. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a term of 60 days. Lawyers have already appealed this decision and are requesting release on bail, while simultaneously gathering documents to confirm the alibi.

### Reaction of the MFA of Ukraine

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed that the department is handling the case of the detained citizen. According to representatives of the press service, the General Consulate of Ukraine in Lublin has already sent a request to the local competent authorities requesting access to the citizen. Ukraine expects a speedy resolution of the issue of consular access to Dmytro Karchuk.

CEO Club Ukraine, of which Karchuk is a co-owner, was founded in 2011 and unites more than 250 owners and heads of large businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs from various sectors of the country's economy.
