Law enforcement agencies in Lviv have completed operational work to identify and detain one of the key participants in the mass riots that took place on July 8. A 23-year-old man, who actively participated in the attack on law enforcement officers and inflicted physical injuries on a police officer, has been brought to a station for investigative actions.

### Timeline of events on Chervona Kalyna Avenue

The incident erupted in the Sykhiv district of Lviv when military personnel and police officers were conducting citizen notification activities. According to the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office and the SBU, the situation got out of control when an aggressive crowd blocked an official vehicle. The rioters not only damaged the car but also overturned it.

Police officers attempted to unblock the passage and stop the crowd, but they met with active resistance. During the conflict, the 23-year-old man used a gas canister against law enforcement officers and struck the deputy head of one of the district police departments in Lviv.

### Operational work and arrest

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police conducted extensive work to identify the attacker. It took about a day to identify and detain the man. In the footage published by law enforcement, the detainee can be seen being escorted to the department building by SBU, National Police, and Prosecutor's Office officers.

Currently, the issue of informing the detainee of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being resolved. In addition, law enforcement officers are investigating a case regarding the obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations.

### Legal consequences and reaction of the authorities

Those involved in these actions face up to 8 years in prison. Law enforcement agencies continue to search for all participants in the mass riots to hold them accountable.

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the General Prosecutor, stated that citizens must realize the consequences of attacks on military personnel and understand what such actions could mean for the country. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the actions of the TCC military personnel during the incident in Lviv are being checked as part of an internal investigation.

Recall that, according to TCC information, the conflict arose during the detention of a conscripted man who had been wanted since June 12. Hundreds of people gathered at the scene of the incident, chanting slogans and obstructing the work of the officers.
