A high-profile incident involving an armed attack on law enforcement officers occurred in Warsaw. On July 10, 2026, in the Ursynów district, in close proximity to the administrative building of the Central Bureau of Combating Cybercrime (CBZC), a 29-year-old Polish citizen attacked a police officer. As a result of the altercation, three officers were injured, one of whom was hospitalized with a severe injury.

### Timeline of Events and Arrest Tactics

The incident occurred in the morning on Wólczyńska Street. According to the investigation, the attacker launched an unprovoked attack on a cyber police officer who was heading to work. The first blow was delivered with a brass knuckle to the head area. The perpetrator then attempted to flee, but operational duty officers, having initiated an interception plan, caught up with him near the "Kabaty" metro station.

The arrest was accompanied by active physical resistance. During the search, two metal brass knuckles and a machete were seized from the detainee. These items have been attached to the case materials as material evidence.

The consequences of the attack for law enforcement officers were serious:

- One officer sustained a severe injury to the lower limb as a result of a blow from brass knuckles and was urgently transported to a specialized hospital.

- Two other officers sustained minor bodily injuries and received outpatient care.

### Motives and Psychological State of the Suspect

Monika Pszczółkowska, an official representative of the CBZC, commented on the progress of the investigation. According to her, the detainee is giving confused testimony. In his explanations, the man appeals to conspiracy theories, claiming that he is under "permanent surveillance and wiretapping by special services".

In connection with obvious signs of inadequate behavior, the court ordered a forensic psychiatric examination. Its goal is to determine the degree of criminal responsibility of the suspect at the time of the acts.

### Legal Consequences and Qualification of the Crime

The investigation is under the control of the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office. The actions of the suspect are qualified under Article 223 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Poland (Czynna napaść na funkcjonariusza publicznego) — "Active attack on a public official".

The sanction of this article provides for imprisonment for a term of 1 to 10 years. The prosecutor's office is preparing a motion to select a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of three months. According to the norms of Polish legislation, the use of items structurally designed to inflict serious bodily harm (such as machetes and brass knuckles) is considered by the court as an aggravating circumstance, which minimizes the probability of a suspended sentence.
