On the night of July 4, Moscow faced a large-scale attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. The raid, which began in the evening, has been ongoing for several hours, forcing city authorities and the air defense system to operate in an intensified mode.

Information about the incident came from the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergey Sobyanin, whose Telegram messages became the primary source of data for media outlets, including RBC-Ukraine. According to the official's reports, the first threat was detected at approximately 22:45. It was at this time that air defense forces destroyed the first drone heading towards Moscow.

### Scale of the Operation and Air Defense Work

The dynamics of Sobyanin's messages indicate an escalation of the attack. While initially the report mentioned one destroyed object, in subsequent reports the mayor spoke of the elimination of three drones. The lack of clarification on whether these targets reached the capital suggests that some of the unmanned aircraft may have reached the city itself.

At present, the attack has been ongoing for more than three hours. According to the latest data from the mayor's office, air defense forces have shot down a total of 13 drones. This indicates a high intensity of shelling and the need for constant operation of air defense systems over the capital.

### Consequences for Infrastructure

The attack has led to serious disruptions in the functioning of transport infrastructure. Russian social media channels report a complete suspension of arrivals and departures at Moscow's airports. In particular, restrictions have been introduced at least at Vnukovo airport, which significantly disrupts logistics and passenger movement.

### Context of Strikes on the Rear

The events in Moscow do not happen in a vacuum. The day before, media reports emerged about systematic Ukrainian strikes on Russia's energy and military infrastructure protecting the capital. In particular, it became known that the Lukoil-Nizhnekamsknefteorgsynthesis refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod region had been put out of commission. This enterprise is one of the key fuel suppliers for Moscow, and its damage could have long-term consequences for the city's supply.

Furthermore, experts note that systematic strikes on Russian radars in the Bryansk region have opened new opportunities for Ukrainian drones. Damaging systems that control airspace towards the Russian capital has significantly reduced the effectiveness of early warning systems and allowed drones to penetrate deeper into Russian territory.
