# August at the cinema: action with Statham, the story of Kuzma, and new horror films

August promises to be a packed month for movie lovers. Big screens will feature epic action movies, tense detective stories, sci-fi films, and important Ukrainian premieres. This month, famous actors will return to the screen, and films that have already attracted the attention of cinephiles will be released.

### Action and detective films: from Detroit to Belfast

One of the main events of the month will be a new action movie starring actor John Statham. The events of the film take place in Detroit in the 1970s. The protagonist, former ranger John Miller, tries to leave his dangerous past behind. He finally finds love, but a powerful crime boss destroys his happy future.

When John is unfairly accused of a crime and sent to prison, he realizes he can no longer rely on the law. Breaking out of the trap, he begins a personal fight against those who deprived him of everything dear to him.

Another notable new release will be a film based on real events. The film tells the story of the greatest bank robbery in Irish history, which took place in Belfast in 2004. At the center of the plot are two bank workers who found themselves involved in a criminal scheme against their will. The heroes are forced to carry out a dangerous plan, as the safety of their families is at stake. They need to pull off the robbery in such a way that the real criminals never even enter the building.

The detective genre is also represented by the story of former special forces operative Cole Reed. He is suddenly accused of murdering a billionaire boss. To clear his name, the hero begins his own investigation. Gradually, he realizes that he has become the center of a dangerous game.

### Sci-fi and horror

For lovers of mysticism and science fiction, a film will be released where an ordinary Oak Street is suddenly transported to an unknown space. The Platts family finds themselves in an unfamiliar environment where the familiar world no longer works according to old rules. The heroes have to unite to find a way to survive and understand what happened to their home. Now the future depends on how strong their bonds will remain in the face of the unknown.

A popular franchise that has already conquered audiences around the world returns with a new story and even more terrifying events. This time, the plot focuses on a young mother, Jamie, played by Amelia Eve, and her daughter. The woman lives in a house where she once spent her childhood, but later discovers an unusual ability to penetrate another dimension. Caught between two worlds, she becomes a target for a dangerous force.

### Romance and documentary films

August will also see the release of a romantic comedy about a special night when lonely people choose to simply enjoy the moment. Owen, who recently went through a breakup, and Ellie, who dreams of true feelings, accidentally meet in a big city. Despite instant sympathy, their meeting turns into a series of misunderstandings, unexpected twists, and random obstacles. The heroes will have to go through various adventures to understand if they have really found what they have been looking for.

Special attention should be paid to the Ukrainian premiere — a film dedicated to Andriy Kuzmenko, the frontman of the band "Skryabin", a musician and a person who left a noticeable mark on Ukrainian culture. The film will show the artist's story through unique archival materials, some of which viewers will see for the first time. The authors of the film reveal not only Kuzma's creative path, but also personal changes, self-irony, and a view on life.
