# Automatic cancellation of deferment: how 'Reserve+' removes the right to protection when circumstances change

The situation with mobilization in Ukraine has intensified due to the operation of digital accounting systems. The right to deferment is now automatically terminated in many cases as soon as state registries record a change in a citizen's life circumstances. This was stated by lawyer Tetyana Lebedeva in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

Today, most deferments are granted automatically via the 'Reserve+' mobile application. The system operates on the principle of 'data updates': if the grounds for preferential status disappear, the application automatically cancels the deferment. This creates risks for those who do not monitor changes in their legal situation.

### Family circumstances and children's age

One of the most common cases of automatic cancellation is related to a change in family status. If a deferment was granted to a father of a large family, it is annulled on the day the eldest child turns 18. The system reacts instantly to reaching adulthood, depriving the parent of protection from conscription.

A similar situation occurs upon divorce. If a man used a deferment based on the status of being the spouse of a disabled woman, the right to protection is lost automatically after the dissolution of the marriage.

### Student deferment and study terms

For students, the rules of the system are also strict. The deferment is valid strictly until the moment studies are completed. For example, if the study term expires on June 30, then starting July 1, the 'Reserve+' database is updated, and the deferment is removed. The same happens upon expulsion from an educational institution.

### Care for parents and critical industries

The deferment for those caring for parents is tied to the validity period of the corresponding medical act, which is issued for one year. However, there is a nuance here: in the event of the death of the person being cared for, the registries do not yet pull information automatically. This means that such a deferment is not cancelled in the system immediately after the tragedy.

Protection for enterprise workers also does not disappear on its own. It is annulled only after the company loses its status as critically important or the conscript resigns from their job. In this case, the employer is obliged to transfer the relevant data to the TCC (Territorial Recruitment Center) so that the system updates the employee's status.
