## 🎯 Key Points

- Autumn break in Kyiv will take place from October 26 to November 1, 2026.
- The schedule is recommendatory and can be adjusted depending on security conditions.
- The first semester runs until December 23, and the academic year officially ends on June 30, 2027.

The Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration has published official recommendations regarding the structure of the new academic year. According to the approved schedule, the autumn break for capital schoolchildren is scheduled for late October, providing a necessary pause in the educational process for students to recover.

### Schedule and structure of the academic year in Kyiv

In accordance with the department's recommendations, the autumn break in Kyiv schools is scheduled for the period from October 26 to November 1, 2026. Most educational institutions in the capital continue to operate on a traditional semester system. The first semester covers the period from September 1 to December 23, after which students will have winter holidays, and the second semester will run from January 11 to May 28, 2027.

### Features of the educational process under martial law

It is important to note that the proposed dates are purely recommendatory. Under martial law and potential security challenges, Kyiv schools have the right to independently adjust the holiday schedule and the form of organizing the educational process. Educational administrations can adapt the schedule to the current operational situation in the city.

### Contradictory data

Despite the recommendations approved by city authorities for a unified holiday schedule, discussions persist within the expert community and parent committees regarding the feasibility of rigid planning. Some sources point to potential risks of changing vacation dates due to the energy infrastructure situation or weather conditions, while the Department of Education insists on maintaining the basic plan while allowing local flexibility.

### End of the academic year and compensatory classes

The traditional Last Bell ceremony is scheduled for May 28, 2027, marking the end of regular classroom instruction. However, the official academic year will last until June 30, 2027. This additional month is planned to be used for conducting compensatory classes aimed at overcoming potential educational losses, as well as for consultations, project activities, and educational excursions.
