# Bad weather in Ukraine: rain, thunderstorms and flooding against the backdrop of a forecast for warming by the weekend

On June 16, Ukraine was under the influence of unstable weather. Meteorologists are recording the passage of a moist air mass, which brought short-term rains and thunderstorms to almost the entire territory of the country. In some places, gusts of wind are observed, creating additional difficulties for pedestrians and drivers.

### Synoptic forecast: rain and comfortable temperatures

According to meteorologist Natalia Didenko, today's weather will be capricious. Despite frequent precipitation, the air temperature remains within comfortable limits. Across the country, a range from +19 to +24 degrees is expected. In the east and south of Ukraine, the mercury columns may rise even higher — to +22...+26 degrees.

The wind is predominantly from the west with moderate speed. However, in the west and north of the country, stronger gusts are possible, reaching 12–14 meters per second. In the western and southern regions, rains will be less intense, more often giving way to clearings.

### Situation in Kyiv: from puddles to flooding

The capital also did not escape precipitation. It is raining in Kyiv today, locally accompanied by thunderstorms. The air temperature in the city fluctuates within the range of +18...+20 degrees.

The bad weather has already made itself known through its consequences. On the eve of this, Kyiv and the region were covered by a strong thunderstorm with heavy rain. As a result of the downpour, roads in the capital were flooded, and in some places cars were partially submerged in water. Residents were forced to take off their shoes to walk through deep puddles, as can be seen in photos from the city streets.

### What to expect in the coming weekend?

Despite the current inclement weather, the forecast for the coming days looks more optimistic. According to meteorologists, warming is expected before the weekend. The air temperature will rise to +24...+29 degrees, and the amount of precipitation will decrease significantly.

Experts from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center previously noted that June this year is characterized by specific climatic features. Meteorologists also remind of the need to take into account global climate change when planning activities and daily life.
