British defense company BAE Systems has officially announced the launch of licensed production of 105mm L119 howitzers directly on Ukrainian territory. This decision is the result of a signed contract with a Ukrainian partner, who will remain unnamed. The agreement provides for the transfer of technical documentation and full support of the process by British engineers.

### Creating industrial resilience

In the company's press release, it is emphasized that support for Ukraine goes beyond the simple supply of weapons. It is about creating industrial resilience and transferring the skills necessary to ensure long-term defense capabilities. The first sample of the gun is planned to be manufactured in the near future, after which the testing phase will begin.

### Technical advantages of the L119

The Ukrainian army will receive a modified version of the howitzer, developed specifically for its needs. The 105mm barrel is distinguished by its lightness and high mobility, making it an ideal tool for brigade-level support. Compared to outdated Soviet D-30 systems, whose barrels have exhausted their resource, British equipment demonstrates significantly higher efficiency.

Key characteristics of the new artillery include:

- The ability to be transported on standard pickup trucks.

- Compatibility with helicopter slings for rapid deployment.

- High effectiveness against infantry, light armored vehicles, and field fortifications.

### Future plans

Cooperation between BAE Systems and the Armed Forces of Ukraine is already bearing fruit: earlier, Ukraine received the first four artillery barrels of 105 and 155 mm calibers for testing. London is considering the possibility of producing up to 150 barrels for the needs of the Ukrainian army. Parallel to the development of artillery systems, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the successful development of its own ballistic program, the details of which remain classified.
