# Bandar Abbas Cut Off from Iran: US Destroys Key Bridges and Tunnels

Land communication with the strategic port of Bandar Abbas in Iran has been completely severed. In the Hormozgan province in the south of the country, the transport infrastructure connecting the region's administrative center with the rest of the state has been destroyed. According to The Telegraph, the logistical isolation of the city, with a population of over 500,000, is the result of a coordinated air campaign by the US Armed Forces.

### Scale of Destruction and Logistics Blockade

Precision strikes have put critical facilities ensuring cargo flow through Iran's largest maritime hub out of operation. According to remote sensing data and map analysis, damage has been recorded on several main routes:

- **Bridge crossings:** Major structures in the Bandar-e Kenari district (formerly Bandar-e Hamir) have been completely destroyed, including the Gariveh bridge, as well as a key overpass in the Kahuristan area.

- **Tunnels:** The strategic Shahid Mirzai tunnel, which provided access via the northern highway towards the industrial center of Sirjan, has been blocked.

- **Railway:** Multiple breaks in the track have been recorded on freight branches leading to port stations.

The economic significance of the incident is colossal. Historically, up to 50% of the country's foreign trade turnover, including food and medicine supplies, passed through the Shahid Rajaee port complex. The cessation of cargo exports creates a risk of blocking internal distribution chains.

### Military-Strategic Context

Pentagon representatives state that the operation's goal was to isolate the coastal zone to reduce the operational capabilities of the Iranian Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Bandar Abbas hosts key bases and logistics headquarters controlling the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the world's oil volume is transported.

Official Tehran qualifies the strikes on civilian transport routes as a violation of international law, creating preconditions for a humanitarian crisis. In response to US actions, Iran's military-political leadership announced retaliatory measures and recorded launches against coalition forward operating bases in the Persian Gulf region.
