# «Banderol» in mass production: expert assesses the threat of a new Russian missile to Ukraine

Russia is moving to mass production of the new cruise missile «Banderol». This was reported by the advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and military expert Serhiy «Flash» Beskrestnov, who analyzed current data on the enemy's weaponry.

### Production scale and attack rates

According to the specialist, the planned output of ammunition for the current year is 120 missiles per month. This means that the Russian side is capable of launching up to four such projectiles daily. At the same time, the expert notes that the production capacity of the factories has probably not yet reached full capacity, and the actual figures may be lower than the declared plans.

### Tactics of application and carriers

«Flash» paid special attention to the methods of delivering the missile to the target. The ammunition has a diameter of 30 cm, which allows it to be integrated into various carriers. The main vector of tactical development has become the launch of «Banderol» from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the «Orion» type.

The expert explains this choice with the logic of modern warfare: large drones operating directly over the front line or in the rear become easy targets for air defense. To reduce losses, the enemy has worked out a scheme for launching missiles from Russian territory, using drones as booster platforms. In addition, the possibility of launching the ammunition from Mi-8 helicopters has been confirmed.

### Characteristics and threat assessment

Despite active use, Serhiy Beskrestnov does not consider «Banderol» to be a unique weapon. According to his assessment, it is a budget cruise missile with a relatively small warhead. Nevertheless, its characteristics are cause for concern:

- Flight range reaches 500 km.

- The warhead can carry up to 150 kg of explosives.

- The carrier drone is equipped with a jet engine and can develop a speed of up to 500 km/h.

Previously, this type of weapon was already used during the massive shelling of Kyiv. Now, the transition to serial production turns «Banderol» from an isolated incident into a systemic threat to Ukraine's infrastructure.
