The situation in the Konstantynivka area remains one of the most tense and contradictory on the map of hostilities. While official Russian sources claim an imminent capture of the city and a complete encirclement of Ukrainian forces, the Ukrainian command refutes these claims, reporting successful counterattacks and the clearing of approaches to the city.

### Contradictory Narratives: What the Sides Say

On June 23, Vladimir Putin, in his statement, emphasized that Russian troops are advancing on all sections of the front and are "practically reaching" Konstantynivka. The head of the Kremlin rejected the thesis that the city has become a "gray zone," but was forced to admit: Ukrainian fighters continue to hold positions inside buildings and actively conduct counterattacks.

On the same day, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published detailed reports on alleged successes achieved in the city. However, according to an analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), these materials are classified as an attempt to exaggerate real progress. Experts note that Russia is increasingly using the tactic of infiltration by small groups, which, however, does not indicate control over the territory.

### Reality on the Ground: Clearing the Southern Flank

Deputy Commander of the 19th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Madyar, stated on June 23 about the successful clearing of areas in the south of Konstantynivka. He categorically refuted claims of the encirclement of Ukrainian forces, clarifying that the number of Ukrainian military personnel in the city significantly exceeds the number of Russian fighters.

According to ISW data, Russia requires significantly more personnel to turn point infiltrations into sustainable positions. The fact that Ukrainian forces are clearing the southern flank confirms that the occupiers are not yet able to establish a foothold.

### Difficulties of the Offensive and the Information War

The difficulties of the Russian troops are also confirmed by information from Russian military bloggers. One of them reported that Russian fighters are struggling to reinforce positions north of the city and are forced to rely on the airdrop of ammunition via drones.

Parallel to the combat operations, Russia is conducting an active campaign in the media space. Video materials generated by artificial intelligence are circulating online, demonstrating non-existent successes on the ground. The goal of this campaign is to convince the audience that the Ukrainian defense is about to collapse. ISW assesses this as a targeted saturation of the information field with false statements.

### Position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Command

Aleksandr Syrsky, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who visited the Konstantynivka direction, stated that the enemy is pressing with small assault groups, trying to find weak points in the defense. At the same time, the Defense Forces are monitoring these actions and inflicting significant losses. Earlier, it was reported that Russia had concentrated about 11,000 military personnel in the tactical area of Konstantynivka-Druzhkivka, ensuring constant pressure on the city.
