## Key Points

- BC Rivne officially ended cooperation with American forward Danny Smith, who received free agent status
- Smith played five matches for the team, averaging 7.8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists
- At the time of the legionnaire's departure, Rivne ranks fourth in the Ukrainian Superleague with a 5-2 record

Basketball Club Rivne has officially announced the termination of its cooperation with American forward Danny Smith. According to the team's press service, the parties suspended the contract, resulting in the player acquiring free agent status. This was reported by Sport RBC.UA, citing the club's official channel.

### A Brief Stint: Five Matches and Statistics

Danny Smith joined the Rivne team only in September 2026, meaning his tenure lasted less than two months. During this time, the forward managed to participate in five matches. The player's stats for this period were as follows: an average of 7.8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. The BC Rivne press service thanked the legionnaire for his time with the team and wished him success in his future professional career.

### Rivne's Standing in the League Table

At the time of Smith's departure announcement, Rivne had played seven matches in the Ukrainian Superleague with a 5-2 win-loss record. The team currently holds fourth place in the national championship standings. Thus, parting ways with the American forward occurred against the backdrop of a fairly stable team result, making the decision to terminate the contract a subject of discussion among fans.

### Context and Prospects

The departure of the legionnaire as a free agent opens up the opportunity for him to sign with any other club without being bound by transfer restrictions. For BC Rivne, this decision means they must look for a replacement at the forward position for the remainder of the season. The club, occupying fourth place in the Superleague, retains chances of fighting for high positions, and roster adjustments in the offensive line could become a key factor in the team's further momentum.

### Reaction and Next Steps

The BC Rivne press service did not disclose specific reasons for the termination of cooperation in its statement, limiting itself to the standard wording regarding the suspension of the contract. Danny Smith, in turn, has not publicly commented on his departure. In the Ukrainian basketball community, such short stints of foreign players in Superleague clubs are not uncommon, but five matches are usually insufficient to form a solid impression of a player, making it difficult to assess his contribution to the team.
