# «The Vatican Knows the Truth»: Italian Bible Scholar Claims the Bible Describes Aliens, Not God

**August 14, 2026** — A new scandal has erupted in the world of religious studies and biblical scholarship, linked to an alternative interpretation of sacred texts. Italian scholar and former translator of biblical texts Mauro Biglino has put forward a sensational hypothesis: the original texts of the Old Testament actually describe the activities of technologically advanced extraterrestrial beings, not a single God. Furthermore, the researcher claims that the Vatican leadership is fully aware of the true meaning of these records but is concealing it from the faithful.

### The «Ancient Astronauts» Theory and Vatican Surveillance

Mauro Biglino, who previously worked on translating 17 books of the Old Testament, is a staunch adherent of the «ancient astronauts» theory. According to this concept, ancient people perceived highly advanced aliens as deities. Biglino stated in an interview that reliable sources informed him of interest in his work by high-ranking officials in the Vatican. Although he provided no concrete evidence of surveillance, the researcher expressed confidence that «sooner or later, the Vatican will intervene in some way» in the dissemination of his ideas.

According to Biglino, Vatican scholars «are fully aware» that the Bible presents a much more complex picture of reality than what is taught by traditional religious doctrine. He considers his theory a serious challenge to modern theology, noting that the Vatican Observatory has already openly discussed the possibility of life in the Universe.

### «Kavod» as a Description of an Aircraft

A key argument for his theory, according to Biglino, is the linguistic analysis of ancient Hebrew terms. He pays special attention to the word «kavod» (כָּבוֹד). In traditional theology, this term is translated as «the glory of God». However, Biglino notes that in the original language, it also means physical weight, heaviness, and massiveness.

In the books of Exodus and Ezekiel, «kavod» is described as an object that moves through space, makes noise, emits fire and light, and is dangerous to people nearby. The researcher is convinced that this is not a metaphor but a technical description of a material aircraft. In his opinion, this is exactly how ancient people described spacecraft that they could not understand through the prism of their time.

### Physical «Gods» and the Multiplicity of Elohim

Biglino's argumentation is also based on the analysis of the actions and names of characters in the Old Testament. He claims that the names Elohim, Yahweh, Elion, and Shaddai are evidence of the existence not of a single God, but of a group of rulers or aliens. Unlike the traditional understanding of an omnipotent spirit, these «gods» behave like ordinary people: they travel, divide lands, wage war, eat, experience anger and, most importantly, are mortal.

As examples, Biglino cites Psalm 82, where God warns divine beings that they «will die like mortals», and Deuteronomy 32, describing the division of nations. The researcher believes that if the existence of advanced aliens is officially confirmed by science, the Church will simply change the interpretation of the texts, declaring them creations of a single God to preserve the dogmas of faith.

### Contradictory Data

Mauro Biglino's hypothesis has met with strong rejection from the academic community. Bible scholars and linguists specializing in ancient Hebrew reject his interpretations as speculative and inconsistent with the context.

Scientists point out the following counterarguments:
1. **The word «Elohim»**: Although the word has a plural form, in the context of the Hebrew language it agrees with verbs in the singular and traditionally means the one God, not a group of beings.
2. **Ezekiel's Visions**: Academic researchers consider the «amazing descriptions of the prophet» to be religious symbolism and mystical visions, not protocols of real spacecraft.
3. **Lack of technological context**: There are no direct mentions of technology or aliens in the mentioned passages. Scientists summarize that the flexibility of ancient Hebrew words is not proof of a description of aliens.
