# Blocking EU Accession and Canceling Loans: Poland Sets Conditions for Ukraine

A new wave of debate regarding the future of relations with Kyiv has erupted in Warsaw. Ksawery Bosak, Vice-Speaker of the Polish Sejm, made a sharp statement on the airwaves of RMF FM, calling for a review of the format of interaction with Ukrainian authorities. The politician asserts that current policy requires a radical change in approach and a strict linkage of aid to the fulfillment of specific requirements.

The central point in Bosak's list of conditions for continuing integration processes is the resolution of the issue of the exhumation of victims of the Volhynian massacres. According to the Vice-Speaker, until this requirement is met, the Polish side must block Ukraine's accession process to the European Union. Bosak justifies his position by stating that inaction strengthens the Ukrainian elites' belief that Warsaw's aid will always be unconditional.

"It is time to start setting conditions and demanding respect for our national interests," emphasized the Polish politician, pointing to the need to protect historical memory and sovereignty.

In addition to historical issues, Bosak voiced a number of specific economic and infrastructure restrictions. In particular, he called for the cessation of funding for the Starlink satellite communication system for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the suspension of loans from the Polish budget. These measures are viewed as leverage to achieve a compromise on contentious issues.

The trigger for such sharp statements was the recent decision by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to name one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces brigades after the "heroes of the UPA." This event became the catalyst for the Polish side to review its support strategy.

At the time of publication, no official comments from the Ukrainian side regarding Ksawery Bosak's statements had been received. Nevertheless, the words of the high-ranking Polish politician signal a possible cooling in bilateral relations and a shift from unconditional support to a policy of "conditional aid".
