On the night of July 6, as explosions from a massive rocket attack echoed over Ukraine, the impact was felt not only in residential districts but also at cultural heritage sites. The National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in Kyiv suffered damage from the blast wave. A unique windmill—a monument to wooden architecture from the first half of the 20th century—was hit.

The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has already recorded the incident. Tetyana Berezhna, the Minister of Culture, called the event "another crime against heritage." According to her, this is further proof that Russia is waging a systematic war against Ukrainian culture, deliberately destroying symbols of national identity.

### The Cost of the Attack: Tragedy in the Capital

The damage to cultural values appears especially tragic against the backdrop of human casualties. On the night of July 6, Russia launched a massive strike across the country, but Kyiv was hit particularly hard. Several residential buildings were destroyed. According to official data, 19 people were killed and 46 injured. July 7 was declared a day of mourning in the capital in honor of the deceased.

### The Air Defense Problem and the Threat of Escalation

The situation regarding air defense remains critical. The Ukrainian Air Force admitted that they were unable to intercept ballistic missiles and hypersonic "Zircon" missiles. The main reason is the acute shortage of interceptor missiles for the "Patriot" air defense systems. Experts warn that if the current dynamics continue, Russia could launch new massive strikes in the near future.

Currently, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine is coordinating efforts to protect the damaged monument and continues to inform international partners about Russia's actions aimed at destroying Ukrainian cultural heritage. The windmill from Yunakovka has become another symbol of this war, where not only history but also the future crumbles amidst the rubble.
