# Border Relief: Readiness of the New 'Bila Tserkva' Border Crossing Checked in Zakarpattia

In Zakarpattia, the final stage of preparation for the opening of the new international border crossing (IBC) 'Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmației' is nearing completion. This crossing on the border with Romania is intended to become a key element of the region's logistics infrastructure, capable of significantly relieving existing border checkpoints.

RBC-Ukraine reports on the opening of this new transit point, citing representatives of the Zakarpattia Customs. According to the agency, a government commission has already begun inspecting the facility. The main task for the inspectors is to assess the readiness of the first phase of construction for the launch of passenger car traffic.

### Infrastructure and Throughput Capacity

The necessary infrastructure for full operation has already been established at the site. Specifically, an access road has been built, the embankment reinforced, lighting installed, and specialized zones for vehicle inspection and workstations for customs and border guard officers equipped.

The new border crossing will have significant throughput capacity. According to customs data, the facility includes:

    - six lanes for passenger cars;

    - two lanes for buses;

    - six lanes for freight transport.

It is expected that up to 700 passenger cars, about 60 buses, and up to 400 trucks will be able to pass through the new crossing daily. This will significantly reduce waiting times in queues for residents of border regions and transit carriers.

### Operational Organization and Alternative Routes

Parallel to the physical completion of construction, the Zakarpattia Customs and the State Border Guard Service are refining administrative procedures for vehicle clearance. The goal is to ensure the fastest possible border crossing.

The opening of 'Bila Tserkva' is particularly relevant on the eve of the summer season, when a traditional surge in passenger traffic is observed at Ukraine's western border. Experts recommend planning trips on weekdays and leaving early in the morning to avoid congestion.

Due to the high load on the Polish direction, Ukrainians are also advised to consider alternative travel routes. International airports can be reached via Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, or Moldova, choosing a train, bus, or personal vehicle.
