# Border repairs: Buses from Ukraine will not be allowed into Poland via Shehyni until 2027

For carriers and passengers planning bus trips between Ukraine and Poland, difficult times are ahead. The State Customs Service of Ukraine has officially announced major changes to the operation of one of the key border crossing points. Until the end of 2027, bus traffic from Ukraine to Poland through the "Shehyni-Medika" border crossing will be completely suspended.

### Long pause in traffic

The reason for such a long break is planned repair work. The infrastructure of the border crossing requires serious updates, and Polish authorities have decided to close the bus lane for entry into the country. Repair work is scheduled to start on June 15, 2026, and, according to preliminary data, will last until November 2027.

This means that for a year and a half, no bus service will be able to cross the border in this direction. Carriers are strongly advised to take this information into account when planning logistics and compiling schedules to avoid downtime and missed trips.

### Asymmetric operating mode

The situation at the border will develop asymmetrically. While exit from Ukraine to Poland will be blocked, traffic in the opposite direction — from Poland to Ukraine — will remain in normal mode. Buses arriving in Ukraine through "Shehyni-Medika" will be able to cross the border without restrictions.

This decision allows for the maintenance of transport links for those entering the country, but creates serious challenges for domestic carriers, who will have to find alternative routes or change logistics chains for the specified period.

### Context of restrictions

This is not the only change in the region's transport infrastructure. Earlier, there were reports of traffic restrictions on the international highway in the Ternopil region, where a special detour was organized for drivers. In addition, new rules for entry into the EU came into force in April, which all Ukrainians planning trips abroad should be aware of.
