# Bread prices rise, buckwheat drops: how food prices changed in Ukrainian supermarkets on June 23

The Ukrainian food market is showing high volatility. While the beginning of the week saw shoppers focus on a sharp drop in buckwheat prices, by Tuesday, June 23, the focus shifted to bakery products. Price monitoring in the largest retail chains records new fluctuations in the cost of staple foods.

According to RBC-Ukraine, the situation on supermarket shelves continues to change. Experts note that current data reflects exclusively the minimum prices available for goods at this moment.

### Buckwheat: leadership of budget lines

The "Silpo" chain remains the absolute leader in buckwheat affordability. It is here that the price of the product has reached minimum values thanks to the introduction of a budget product line. While price tags on buckwheat in other major chains exceed 65 hryvnias, "Silpo" maintains its position as the most advantageous place to buy this grain.

### Bread: sharp price surge in "Auchan"

While most retail chains maintained Monday's pricing, a significant price increase was recorded in "Auchan" hypermarkets. A half-loaf of wheat bread, previously sold under the "Formula Smaku" brand for 14.50 hryvnias, is now offered under the chain's own brand for 21.30 hryvnias. This change became a notable event of the day against the backdrop of general stability in the bakery category.

### Eggs and milk: stability and new packaging

The egg market demonstrates stability compared to last week. "Auchan" continues to confidently hold the status of the cheapest place to buy eggs by the piece, maintaining its position in the price rating.

Milk prices completely repeated the figures from the previous day, June 22. A stable trend is observed: manufacturers and retailers are switching to smaller packaging. This strategy allows them to visually maintain a low shelf price despite inflationary processes. After the Novus chain updated its assortment and put 500 ml bottles of "Oleiny" on the shelves, milk prices stabilized across all market players. The most advantageous offer in this category still belongs to Auchan's own brand.
