Polish law enforcement authorities have arrested a 40-year-old man who disseminated threats against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on social media. The suspect did not merely insult the Ukrainian leader but also called for his murder.

Investigative actions were carried out by police from the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. They gathered sufficient evidence of offenses committed online. The arrest operation was conducted on July 30. During the investigation, the man was charged with suspicion of two episodes of criminal activity.

### Confession and remorse

During the investigative process, the detainee admitted his guilt. He expressed remorse and explained to law enforcement officers that he posted provocative messages under the influence of emotions. Currently, the man claims to regret his actions.

The criminal investigation is under the supervision of the district prosecutor's office in Muszyna. According to the law, the suspect faces up to three years in prison for committing such crimes.

### Context: Zelenskyy's visit to Poland

The incident occurred against the backdrop of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's first visit to Poland following a period of strained relations between Kyiv and Warsaw. The day before, on July 29, the Ukrainian President stopped in Lublin, Poland, on his way from the USA.

This visit was a significant diplomatic step following the scandal surrounding the UPA and the revocation of the Polish order from the Ukrainian leader. During the trip, Zelenskyy met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The sides discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation, including investments in Ukraine and cooperation in the field of air defense.
