# Ceasefire on the Brink: Israel and Lebanon Agree on a Truce, but Hezbollah Hesitates to Surrender

Tense negotiations concluded in Washington that could alter the course of the conflict in the Middle East. Under the auspices of the U.S. State Department, representatives of Israel and Lebanon reached a fundamental agreement to implement a ceasefire. However, the implementation of this agreement faces serious obstacles on the ground, where hostilities continue.

### The Essence of the Agreement: What Did the Parties Sign?

According to official data published on June 3, the Israeli and Lebanese delegations held a series of consultations in the United States. The main outcome was the decision to implement a ceasefire regime. The U.S. State Department press release clearly outlines the conditions that must be met to stabilize the situation:

- Complete cessation of fire by the radical movement Hezbollah.

- Withdrawal of all militants of the group from the sector located south of the Litani River.

- Enhancement of the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces with U.S. support to establish control over the entire territory of the country.

Both sides also expressed condemnation of Iran for its aggression against regional countries, acknowledging that external intervention exacerbates instability.

### Reality on the Ground: Why is the Ceasefire Fragile?

Despite the diplomatic success in Washington, the situation on the border remains extremely tense. The ceasefire can be described as fragile due to the de facto ignoring of conditions by armed formations. Hezbollah refuses to lay down its arms and continues active offensive operations.

Specifically, the group regularly attacks Israeli military facilities using unmanned aerial vehicles. These attacks demonstrate that political agreements have not yet found resonance among radical elements controlling a significant part of the territory.

### A New Wave of Escalation: Israel Creates Mini-Air Forces

In response to the constant threat and the opponent's refusal of peace initiatives, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began a large-scale reorganization of its units. In particular, specialized mini-air forces are being actively created.

These new units, equipped with modern drone control technologies, will directly participate in operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israeli military officials are betting on the flexibility and high mobility of drones to neutralize the threat in conditions where a traditional ceasefire is not working.
