# Chernihiv without power: massive strikes on energy infrastructure and consequences of attacks in the region

On July 24, the Chernihiv region became the target of a massive attack by Russian armed forces. The strikes hit critical infrastructure and populated areas, leaving hundreds of thousands of residents without electricity and causing material damage.

### 150,000 customers left without power

The main blow was a hit on an energy facility in the Chernihiv district. According to JSC "Chernihivoblenergo", the attack resulted in a mass power outage. Approximately 150,000 customers were left without electricity, including residents of the city of Chernihiv and the surrounding district.

The energy company confirmed that crews have already begun restoration work. Specialists are working to eliminate the consequences of equipment damage, although the exact timing for the full restoration of electricity supply has not yet been announced.

### Strikes on populated areas and casualties

Alongside the attack on the power grid, civilian objects were also targeted. Vyacheslav Chaus, Head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported Russian FPV drone activity in the village of Semenovka, as well as confirmed hits within the city limits.

As a result of the explosions, one person was injured — a 30-year-old local resident was hospitalized. The situation in the region remains tense: enemy drones and missiles continue to strike infrastructure and residential areas.

### Damage in the Novhorod-Siverskyi hromada

Significant damage has been recorded in the Novhorod-Siverskyi hromada. Russian "Molniya" missiles and "Geran" drones struck several villages:

- In one of the populated areas, a private residential house was damaged.

- In another village, a minibus caught fire.

- In a third village, a farm building on a private homestead caught fire from a "Geran" strike.

It was also reported that a gas station was attacked at night. The fire was contained, but the incident confirms that strikes are being carried out across the entire region at various times of the day.

### Consequences in Radichevo

On the morning of July 24, explosions were heard in the village of Radichevo in the Ponornitsia hromada. The strike hit a private sanatorium. The building suffered serious damage and caught fire. Over the course of the day, strikes on energy infrastructure and residential objects continued, posing a threat to the population.

### Preparation for winter and evacuation

Against the backdrop of ongoing attacks, regional authorities are urging residents to prepare for a difficult scenario for the upcoming winter. Evacuation of border territories has already been declared in the Chernihiv region to minimize risks for the civilian population. Experts and local authorities are discussing issues of gas and electricity supply for the new heating season, given the high vulnerability of the infrastructure.
