Beijing has issued a sharp response to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who previously accused China of supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine. Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called on the Alliance to reconsider its perception of China and to "look at itself" during a briefing.

### "An Objective and Fair Position"

Lin Jian emphasized that Beijing maintains an "objective and fair position" regarding the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, China has not supplied lethal weapons to either side and ensures strict control over dual-use goods.

"China has not provided any lethal weapons to either side of the conflict and has ensured strict control over dual-use goods," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated.

### Criticism of NATO and a Call for Reflection

The Chinese foreign ministry criticized Rutte's statements, in which he previously claimed that Russia is not fighting alone but with the support of China, Iran, and North Korea. The NATO Secretary General also pointed to the supply of dual-use goods to the Russian Federation and attempts to circumvent sanctions.

"It is time for NATO to correct its erroneous perception of China, stop provoking confrontations, stop shifting blame, and reflect on itself as a product of the Cold War, as well as on its own role in promoting peace and stability in the world," Lin Jian stated.

### Context: Beijing's Neutrality and Western Accusations

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, China has declared neutrality, refraining from condemning Moscow's actions while formally supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. However, Western media have repeatedly reported on the supply of Chinese dual-use goods to Russia.

For instance, according to Reuters, Chinese combat engines are being secretly transported to the Russian Federation disguised as "industrial refrigeration units" to bypass sanctions. These allegations remain a subject of sharp debate within the international community.
