## 🎯 Key Points

- Chisinau Airport declared an alert due to a bomb threat.
- Urgent evacuation of passengers and staff is underway, check-in is suspended.
- Moldovan MIA special units and sappers are working at the scene.
- The incident aligns with NATO warnings regarding hybrid and sabotage threats in Europe.

Chisinau International Airport named after Eugen Doga has unexpectedly found itself at the center of an emergency. On the afternoon of October 2, 2026, an urgent alert was declared in the terminal building following information regarding a bomb threat. Specialized services immediately responded to the incident, activating standard security protocols.

### Passenger Evacuation and Flight Suspensions

Law enforcement officers and airport security personnel promptly began evacuating all passengers and staff from the terminal area. Check-in for all current and upcoming flights was temporarily suspended to prevent crowding and ensure maximum safety. Specialized units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova, cynologists, and bomb disposal experts were dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough inspection of all facilities.### Contradictory Data

Certain discrepancies emerged in the information space regarding the exact nature of the threat and how the situation unfolded. Some official sources reported a general bomb threat targeting the terminal building, while other outlets specified that the emergency measures were triggered by the potential discovery of a suspicious item in a passenger's luggage. Additionally, alternative reports suggested that similar alerts in the region might have been quickly lifted following initial checks, though official Moldovan authorities continued security verification operations.### Context of Hybrid Threats in Europe

The incident in Chisinau occurs against the backdrop of rising security tensions across the European continent. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte previously stated that EU countries and their partners must be prepared for systematic sabotage, arson, and hybrid attacks. Furthermore, intelligence services from several European nations, including Denmark, have warned of intensifying hybrid threats against critical infrastructure.

The Chisinau Airport administration urges passengers to remain calm, check flight status updates on the online scoreboard, and strictly follow the instructions of border police and staff. Operations are expected to resume after checks are completed.
