On the night of August 5, on the eve of one of the main Orthodox holidays — the Transfiguration of the Lord, popularly known as the Apple Savior — a tragic event occurred in the Kherson region. Russian armed forces destroyed the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos in the village of Daryivka. This was reported in the morning by Bishop Nikodim of Kherson and Tavria, the administrator of the Kherson Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

### Symbolic Date and Scale of Destruction

According to the cleric, the attack took place on the night preceding the holiday, which gives the event a particularly tragic coloring. The bishop published a photo of the aftermath of the strike on social media, showing that the building was destroyed almost to the ground. "There are no words..." — Nikodim commented laconically, expressing grief over the loss of a sacred place.

### Memory of the Defenders

The destroyed church had deep symbolic significance for the local community. It was a new building located near the road to Beryslav. The community of the village of Daryivka erected the building with their own hands, investing effort and funds into it. The main goal of the construction was to immortalize the memory of the fallen Daryivka soldiers who gave their lives defending Ukraine.

### Continued Destruction of Cultural Heritage

The event in Daryivka is not an isolated case. It is part of a series of attacks on religious objects in the region. Earlier, there were reports of shelling of the cathedral in Kherson — an architectural monument of the 19th century. Russian troops also destroyed a unique Cossack church in the Kherson region. Nothing is known yet about the further plans of the faithful regarding the restoration or preservation of the ruins of the church in Daryivka.
