The procedure for obtaining compensation involves sequentially passing several mandatory stages. First, the insurance company is obliged to provide a 50% preferential discount on the registration of the policy, and the state reimburses the remaining half of the cost to the applicant through Diia.  It is important to note that the insurance contract must be concluded exclusively with a company that is officially a member of the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU), and the veteran benefit must be recorded in the document itself. Compensation is paid only under one contract during one calendar year, provided that the policy remains valid at the time of submitting the official application.

In practice, citizens sometimes encounter technical difficulties caused by discrepancies or missing data in state electronic registers. If the system does not find the information, veterans are advised to check the relevance of their tax ID, the vehicle's VIN code, and the validity of the insurance policy. If errors are found in the MTIBU databases, one should immediately contact the insurance company, and in case of problems with the vehicle characteristics, contact the nearest service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
