# Confession from the Kremlin: Putin admits energy problems and shortages in Crimea due to Ukrainian strikes

Vladimir Putin has publicly acknowledged for the first time that strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Russian critical infrastructure are yielding tangible results. During a meeting with public representatives, the Russian leader confirmed the existence of problems in the energy sector, although he attempted to minimize the scale of the consequences, describing the current shortage as "non-critical".

### Admission of energy problems

Responding to questions from journalist Pavel Zarubin, Putin did not deny the effectiveness of the Ukrainian army's actions. "As for strikes on critical infrastructure, particularly the energy sector, these strikes create problems. This is obvious," he stated.

According to the Russian leader, Moscow is observing a certain deficit of energy resources. As the main response to these challenges, the Kremlin identified the urgent need to increase the production of air defense systems. Putin emphasized that Ukraine is receiving unmanned aerial vehicles with new technologies from European partners, which requires Russia to constantly improve the effectiveness of its air defense systems.

### The Crimea issue and logistics

Putin paid special attention in his speech to the situation on the occupied peninsula. He admitted that fuel reserves in Crimea are currently calculated for only a few days, while the region's monthly requirement is 70,000 tons.

"In Crimea, there is currently a reserve for a few days, but needs will be met. We will increase supplies both by land and by sea," the Russian leader assured, adding that the task would be solved. He also noted the need to bring facilities out of repair faster and to establish the necessary volume of imports to cover the gaps.

### "Information operation" and reality in the market

Despite admitting physical problems, Putin attempted to flip the narrative by calling Ukrainian attacks part of an "information operation." According to him, the goal of the strikes is to sow uncertainty in Russian society, drive it to division, and force Moscow to negotiate on unfavorable terms. In conclusion, he called the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "terrorist raids" and asserted that they "absolutely do not affect the situation on the front".

However, the reality inside Russia says the opposite. The Russian fuel market is experiencing a serious crisis against the backdrop of strikes on oil refineries. Gasoline prices in Russia have shown a record increase in the last 20 years. The fuel shortage has become so acute that dozens of regions have been forced to introduce restrictions on fuel sales. This even affected the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, where about 40% of Russian oil is produced.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that Moscow is already forced to ask Kazakhstan for gasoline supplies — we are talking about 50,000 tons of AI-92. In addition, Russia is officially opening fuel imports, trying to stabilize the domestic market.
