The global film industry has suffered a heavy loss: renowned American director Chuck Russell has passed away at the age of 75. His name is forever etched in cinema history thanks to the creation of the cult comedy 'The Mask', which in 1994 turned Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz into global superstars.

The master's death was recorded on Wednesday at his home in San Diego, California. According to close relatives, rescuers were called to the director's residence after he was found unconscious. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed at this time.
