# Demonstrative Actions by the RF: What is Happening on the Border with the Chernihiv Region

The situation in northern Ukraine, particularly on the border with the Chernihiv region, remains under close scrutiny by military and border guards. Despite the absence of facts regarding a breakthrough by Russian troops, experts warn of possible strategic maneuvers by the enemy aimed at diverting the forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU).

### Absence of Invasion Facts

Andrei Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, commented on the current situation during a TV marathon. According to him, at the moment, border guards are not recording attempts by Russian infantry groups to cross the state border. There is also no activity of sabotage-reconnaissance groups (SRG) in this sector.

This statement refutes rumors of a massive offensive on the Chernihiv direction, which was previously discussed in intelligence briefings.

### Strategy of Diversion

Despite the lull, Ukrainian troops should not relax. Andrei Demchenko noted that Russia may use this direction for demonstrative actions. The main goal of such maneuvers is to force Kyiv to transfer additional forces to the north, thereby weakening the defense on more critical sections of the front.

«Even without sufficient forces for an offensive, the enemy can take demonstrative actions so that Ukraine throws additional forces in this direction, not using them on more important ones», — explained the representative of the SBGS.

### Change in Enemy Tactics

The situation on the front is evolving. Earlier, the National Guard of Ukraine reported a change in tactics by Russian troops. Instead of large-scale mechanized assaults, occupiers are increasingly resorting to the use of small infantry groups. These units accumulate unnoticed near the positions of Ukrainian defenders, trying to create a threat of a local breakthrough.

The General Staff of the AFU previously reported intelligence data indicating Russia's plans to use the Chernihiv direction for an attempted invasion. However, at the moment, these plans apparently take the form of reconnaissance in force or destabilization of the situation, rather than a full-fledged offensive.
