# Denis Shtilerman on Ukraine's 'anti-ballistic shield': the missile is ready, but system integration is needed

![Denys Shylerman, expert on air defense systems, discusses Ukraine's anti-ballistic missile shield](https://xab.info/media/2026/06/17/denis-shtilerman-o-protivoballisticheskom-shchite-ukrainy-raketa-gotova-no-nuzhna-integratsiya-sistem/denis-shtilerman-o-protivoballisticheskom-shchite-ukrainy-raketa-gotova-no-nuzhna-integratsiya-sistem-1.webp)

Ukrainian defense company Fire Point has made a significant step in creating an anti-ballistic defense system. Chief Designer and co-owner of the enterprise, Denis Shtilerman, clarified the current status of the project to avoid distortions in the media.

### Missile ready for interception

According to Shtilerman, the missile itself is already fully ready. From an aerodynamic point of view, it flawlessly executes all control commands, reacting to them rigidly and aggressively — exactly as required for intercepting ballistic targets.

"We have done this," emphasized the designer, confirming the completion of the key stage of the aircraft's development.

### Integration — the main challenge

However, as Shtilerman noted, the missile alone is not capable of providing protection. For real interception of ballistic targets, it is necessary to integrate it with other components of the system:

  - Command and control center;

  - Radars;

  - Homing head;

  - Protected data link for target designation and correction commands, resistant to any electronic warfare jamming.

Only with the full complex in place will the Armed Forces of Ukraine be able to effectively shoot down ballistic missiles.

### Cooperation with Europe

Currently, Fire Point is working on each of the four components of the system in conjunction with European partners. The goal is to create reliable protection not only over Ukraine but over all of Europe.

### International context

The issue of supplying air defense systems was actively discussed at the summit of the "G7" leaders in France. Western allies decided to urgently transfer additional systems and long-range weapons to Ukraine to strengthen protection against air attacks.

Thus, work on the Ukrainian "anti-ballistic shield" continues in close coordination with international partners, and key technological elements are already in the final stage of development.
