Night Russian attacks on Kyiv, which took place on the night of July 2, dealt a colossal blow not only to the capital's infrastructure but also to the country's cultural potential. As a result of a combined attack, during which the enemy used ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as combat drones, the central warehouse of the logistics partner of the BookChef publishing house — the company Denka Logistics — was destroyed.

### Loss of years of work

The fire destroyed most of the publishing house's print run. According to preliminary data, approximately 800,000 copies of books perished in the flames. These are not just numbers: behind each of them stand years of work by a huge team of professionals. As emphasized by the publishing house, this is the result of the work of authors, translators, editors, illustrators, designers, printing houses, managers, and logisticians.

The most important news remains that no one was injured during the shelling of the warehouse. Despite the scale of destruction and the complete destruction of material assets, human lives were saved. This was made possible thanks to timely notification and the actions of employees who managed to leave the building before the strike.

Due to the destruction of warehouse stocks, the publishing house is forced to make changes to its work. It will be necessary to review delivery schedules, find new logistics solutions, and possibly postpone the release of some projects. For the publishing house, this is a serious challenge requiring rapid adaptation to new conditions.

### Scale of the attack on Kyiv

Destruction was recorded in more than 30 locations in the capital. The most damage was in the Darnytskyi district — part of a nine-story building was destroyed there. Residential buildings, a medical facility, an emergency medical station, a hotel, and a number of other objects were also damaged. Almost 90 people were injured, 20 died.

The attack was one of the most massive in recent times. The enemy used a wide range of weapons, including ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as combat drones. This indicates a high degree of preparation and coordination of the aggressor's actions.

### Cultural catastrophe

The destruction of 800,000 books is not just an economic loss. It is a cultural catastrophe that will affect millions of readers. Books that were supposed to get into libraries, schools, stores, and homes have now turned into ash. Restoring such volumes will take years, and some editions may be lost forever.

The situation requires an immediate response from the state, international organizations, and civil society. It is necessary to support the publishing house, help restore infrastructure, and ensure the preservation of Ukraine's cultural heritage.
