# Direct funding for frontline brigades: Zelenskyy announces scaling of the program starting in July

Starting in July of this year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will begin scaling the program for direct funding of combat units. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the amount of funds allocated to each battalion performing combat tasks will be increased. Additionally, separate financial streams will be opened for artillery units and corps-level formations.

### Expanding the financial autonomy of brigades

The decision to expand the program was announced by the head of state following a report by Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the President's Office. Palisa, in turn, presented the results of his communications with commanders of combat brigades, who confirmed the effectiveness of the current resource distribution model.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the direct funding program, launched earlier, has already shown positive results. Thanks to it, brigades have gained the ability to significantly accelerate the procurement of drones and other necessary equipment. Now, this mechanism will be applied more broadly:

- The funding volume for each combat battalion will increase;

- Separate funding will be launched for artillery units operating in the combat zone;

- Additional resources will be allocated to corps-level units performing combat missions.

According to the president, the corresponding decision has already been made by the VSU Headquarters, and new resources will be made available to the units next month.

### Predictability and personnel management

Special attention should be paid to the program for guaranteed monthly allocation of military personnel, which has been in effect since December of last year. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that this mechanism has significantly improved the efficiency of local management.

«This means more predictability for commanders in management and much greater opportunities for units to independently organize personnel training», — explained the president. Commanders can now plan actions more accurately, knowing what resources and personnel will be available in the near future.

### Support from the EU

Against the backdrop of internal reforms in the army funding system, Ukraine has also received significant external support. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported that the European Union has provided the country with €3.8 billion. These funds will be directed towards financing the Ukrainian army and developing the defense sector.

According to the head of government, the priority areas for using these funds will be:

- Production of domestic drones;

- Strengthening the capabilities of the defense industry;

- Ensuring urgent supplies for frontline needs.

A comprehensive approach to funding — from direct allocation of funds to battalions to large-scale international aid — is designed to provide the Ukrainian army with the necessary resources to perform combat tasks under current conditions.
