Ukrainian sea exports are on the verge of a complete halt. Russian attacks on port infrastructure and commercial vessels have created a situation where shipping has become impossible without colossal risks. This was stated by the Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Kiper, during a televised marathon.

### Safety Under Threat: Three Weeks of Continuous Attacks

The Odesa region has been under constant fire for the third week. At least ten air raid alerts are declared daily in the region. Russian forces are striking both port infrastructure and Odesa itself with missiles and drones. Kiper emphasized that the population is living in a state of constant tension as the shelling does not stop.

"The enemy is actively shelling Odesa, shelling the ports," noted the head of the RMA. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that over the past week, the occupiers have deliberately attacked the civilian merchant fleet.

### Tragedy at Sea: Casualties Among Foreign Crews

The attacks have led to numerous casualties among civilians. On Sunday, July 19, 10 crew members — citizens of Syria and India — were killed as a result of a strike on one of the vessels. In total, over the past week, 30 people have been killed and another 80 wounded due to enemy shelling in the Odesa region.

These figures only partially reflect the scale of the tragedy. Shipowners of foreign companies, fearing for the lives of their crews, the integrity of the ships, and insurance risks, have begun to massively suspend applications to enter Ukrainian ports.

### Economic Consequences: Export Halt

High security risks have led to the fact that Ukrainian sea exports have effectively stopped. One of the world's largest container carriers — Maersk — has already suspended service on routes through the Black Sea Fishery Port. The reason is the intensification of Russian attacks on port infrastructure.

Kiper noted that after the opening of the maritime corridor in 2023, Russia constantly tried to disrupt shipping. The enemy regularly conducted reconnaissance, shelled port infrastructure, and caused damage to the foreign fleet. Now, the threat has become so serious that global logistics companies are forced to withdraw from Ukrainian ports.

### Attempts to Resume Shipping

"We are now trying to completely revise the approaches to 'cover' and resume shipping, as it was for the last three years," Kiper emphasized. However, this requires ensuring real safety for ships and crews, which is extremely difficult under current conditions.

Against the backdrop of the threat to global food security, Ukraine has initiated an emergency session of the UN Security Council. Russia continues to strike civilian cargo ships in the Black Sea, blocking the work of the Ukrainian maritime corridor and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
