# Dmytro Karchuk: From Detention at the Border to Accusations of Sabotage on the 'Nord Stream'

The situation surrounding the detention of one of the leaders of the Ukrainian business community, co-owner of CEO Club Ukraine Dmytro Karchuk, has developed further. Ukrainian authorities have officially confirmed that the entrepreneur does not admit guilt and intends to appeal the German investigation's decision through his lawyers.

### Official Position of Kyiv

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, a consul from the General Consulate in the Polish city of Lublin visited Dmytro Karchuk at the penitentiary institution in Przemysl. During the visit, diplomats checked the conditions of the citizen's detention and his status.

According to representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Karchuk himself did not file any complaints about the conditions in the institution or the attitude of the administration. However, he firmly stated his non-involvement in the offenses attributed to him. The ministry emphasizes that the issue of safeguarding the rights of the Ukrainian citizen is under the control of both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consular Service.

### Request to Berlin and Defense Version

The Embassy of Ukraine in Germany has already requested details of the case from the German side and expressed readiness to assist the lawyers. At the same time, within the Ukrainian business community, versions are being voiced that the detention may have occurred due to identity theft.

Serhiy Haidachuk, President of CEO Club Ukraine, suggested that Karchuk's personal data may have been used by third parties, which led to the erroneous detention.

### Chronology and Accusations

Recall that Dmytro Karchuk was detained by border guards at the Polish border under an international arrest warrant. German law enforcement agencies link the head of the business club to a series of incidents:

    - Theft of a batch of electric bicycles in September 2024.

    - Participation in sabotage on the 'Nord Stream' gas pipeline.

It is on the latter point that the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Germany has charged the Ukrainian citizen. Now, whether Karchuk will remain in the status of an accused or the case will be reconsidered depends on the actions of the lawyers and the position of the investigation.
