# Downed 'Forpost-R': How Ukrainian Drones Are Destroying Rare Russian Strike UAVs

Ukrainian military forces have recorded a new victory in the skies over the Kursk region. This time, the target was the rare Russian strike-reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) 'Forpost-R'. Its interception and destruction were made possible thanks to the precise work of pilots from the Unmanned Systems Forces.

### A Rare Target in the Sky

According to a report by the Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert "Madyar" Brovda, the incident occurred on July 27. The Russian drone was detected and shot down over the territory of the Kursk region. This event sparked particular interest among military experts, as the 'Forpost-R' is not just a reconnaissance device, but a heavy strike platform.

The UAV is capable of carrying KAB-20 guided air-to-surface bombs with laser guidance on board. This makes it a serious threat to ground targets, capable of delivering high-precision strikes. However, this time the initiative remained with the Ukrainian operators.

### Operation 'Topota'

The interception of the target was carried out by pilots of the 7th Battalion 'Topota', which is part of the 414th Separate Brigade 'Madyar's Birds'. To accomplish the task, a Ukrainian drone, the 'Chaklun-KM', was used. The battle took place at a high altitude — 4,300 meters. Thanks to this, the 'Chaklun' was able to hit the 'Forpost-R', preventing it from unleashing its combat potential.

Robert Brovda described the downed drone as "polished" and expensive. According to him, this is only the sixth confirmed case of the destruction of this type of unmanned aerial vehicle since the beginning of the full-scale war. For the 414th Brigade 'Madyar's Birds', this is already the second victory over the 'Forpost-R'. The first similar success was recorded by the fighters back in April 2025.

### Context of Hostilities

The destruction of the Russian UAV became part of a series of active actions by Ukrainian forces during this period. On the night of July 26, a day before the 'Forpost-R' was shot down, fighters from the Unmanned Systems Department of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) carried out an operation in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The target was the Russian S-400 'Triumf' surface-to-air missile system. According to GUR data, as a result of the strike, the launcher of the complex was destroyed, as well as the 96L6 radar station, which is responsible for detecting air targets. These events demonstrate the high effectiveness of Ukrainian drone warfare both in the air and on the ground.
