## 🎯 Key Points

- A drone hit a store building in Solomianskyi district of Kyiv on the morning of October 8, 2026.
- Ukraine faced an attack by nearly 150 drones overnight into October 8.
- Emergency services are operating at the site to extinguish the fire.

On the morning of October 8, 2026, the capital of Ukraine suffered another massive enemy drone attack. According to official data from Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the Ukrainian Air Force, air defense forces repelled an air raid within the city, urging residents to stay in shelters. As a result of air defense operations and recorded impacts, serious destruction was reported in several districts.

### Consequences of the Strike in Solomianskyi District

The most high-profile episode of the morning raid was a drone hitting a building in the capital's Solomianskyi district. The mayor of Kyiv confirmed that the UAV crashed into a four-story building that housed a store. Emergency services, rescuers, and medics promptly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and assist the victims.

### Contradictory Data

Certain discrepancies emerged in the information space regarding the number of floors in the damaged building. While initial reports from city authorities indicated a strike on a four-story building, a number of independent sources and monitoring channels citing rescuers stated that a five-story building was hit, the lower level of which housed a store, and that a large-scale fire engulfed a significant area of the structure.

### Scale of the Night and Morning Air Raid Alert

A tense situation persisted in Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine throughout the night. According to reports, on the night of October 7-8, Russian forces used nearly 150 drones of various types, including jet drones, against Ukrainian cities. Although Ukrainian air defense successfully destroyed the vast majority of air targets, dangerous arrivals were recorded, leading to casualties and infrastructure destruction during the morning hours.
