# Drone Attack on Gazpromneft's Moscow Refinery: Massive Fires and Damage to Key Units

On June 18, massive fires broke out at the Gazpromneft Moscow Oil Refinery following an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. According to sources, the strikes caused serious damage to technological units, including the critical Euro+ combined production block, as well as fuel storage tanks and auxiliary power units.

Videos published on social media show pillars of fire and thick black smoke rising over the industrial zone in the Kapotnya district. The fires engulfed several facilities, including inter-block pipelines and secondary units associated with the Euro+ operation.

### Strike on the Key Euro+ Unit

Particular attention is drawn to the damage to the Euro+ block — a modern technological line launched in 2020 as part of the refinery's modernization program. This unit combines primary oil refining, product purification from impurities, and the production of high-octane gasoline components. It replaced outdated technologies and provides a significant portion of the plant's capacity for producing gasoline, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products.

Damage to Euro+ could significantly affect the refinery's production capacity, as this line is responsible for producing high-quality petroleum products that meet modern environmental standards.

### Refinery Production Indicators

According to Reuters, in 2024, the Moscow Refinery processed 11.6 million tons of crude oil — approximately 230,000 barrels per day. Over the year, the enterprise produced:

- 2.9 million tons of gasoline;
- 3.2 million tons of diesel fuel;
- 1.3 million tons of bitumen.

These figures highlight the strategic importance of the refinery for the country's energy balance and its role in supplying fuel to the regions of Central Russia.

### Confirmation of the Strike by Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Moscow Refinery for the second time in a week. According to him, this action is aimed at demonstrating to Russia the necessity of ending the war. The strike became part of a series of attacks on infrastructure, which the Ukrainian side views as an element of pressure on the Russian economy.

The attack on the Moscow Refinery is not the first such incident. Earlier this year, similar strikes were carried out against other oil refining facilities in Russia, which caused a wide resonance and led to a review of measures to protect critical infrastructure.

### Consequences and Prospects

The scale of the fire and damage to key units may lead to a temporary reduction in the refinery's production capacity. The exact amount of damage and restoration timelines are currently unknown. Experts note that even a partial shutdown of Euro+ could affect gasoline and diesel fuel supplies to Moscow and surrounding regions.

Moscow authorities and Gazpromneft representatives have not yet provided official comments on the state of the refinery and restoration plans. However, witnesses report that firefighters and emergency services are working at the scene, and access to the territory is restricted.
