The night of August 2nd proved critical for the Saratov region. The area was subjected to a massive drone attack, resulting in large-scale fires. The strikes hit strategically important infrastructure objects: an oil refinery in Saratov and an airfield in Engels.

### Scale of Consequences

Initial reports of sabotage activity appeared on social media around 2:00 AM. Within an hour, the situation became clear: thick columns of smoke rose into the sky over the region, visible from afar. Footage from the scene demonstrates intense burning in industrial zones and airports.

The fire has engulfed significant areas, creating a threat to adjacent territories. Visually, the scale of the blaze indicates serious damage inflicted on infrastructure objects.

### Government Response

Roman Busargin, the Governor of the Saratov region, officially confirmed the attack and the presence of damage. A statement from the regional head's press service declared that civilian infrastructure in both Saratov and Engels was damaged as a result of the drone strike.

"All operational services are working at the scene," noted Busargin, confirming that the liquidation of consequences and firefighting efforts are in the active phase. EMERCOM personnel and other emergency services continue to work at the incident sites.
