# Ekaterina Olos: Quitting Hormones, Veterans in Stand-Up, and Why Leaving 'Kvartal' Was the Best Luck

Ukrainian actress and stand-up comedian Ekaterina Olos is today known as a bright star of screen and stage. However, behind her public image lies a deep personal transformation: from fighting an autoimmune disease to organizing the country's first stand-up nights for veterans. In an open interview for Wave RBC.UA, the artist talked about how she changed her life by refusing hormonal therapy, why competition in cinema tempers one more than harsh auditions, and how past failures led her to her true dream.

### Victory over illness without medication

One of the most important discoveries in Ekaterina's life was the transition to a proper vegan lifestyle. It was this step that allowed her to completely overcome an autoimmune disease by refusing hormonal therapy. The artist emphasizes that working on oneself is not just about external changes, but also internal discipline. She believes that medicines, injections, and surgeries are unnecessary at this stage of her life, and prefers to change sports, nutrition, and lifestyle.

### Body and plastic surgery: why 'no' to implants

In the interview, Ekaterina honestly admitted that in school she was sometimes mocked for her small breast size. Despite the fact that the desire to be 'perfect' is permanently present, she made the decision not to resort to plastic surgery. The main argument is plans for motherhood. Ekaterina does not want to jeopardize the health of her future child because of silicone and implants.

She also notes that many friends who had surgery do not feel natural and do not get the confidence they expected. For the actress, it is obvious: you need to work on your mind, not try to change your appearance surgically.

### Luck in failure: why leaving 'Kvartal' was a salvation

At 19, Ekaterina tried to get into the 'Zhensky Kvartal' project, seeing it as a quick path to an acting career. The audition failed, and at the time it seemed like a tragedy. However, today she is happy that she did not become part of the show. Ekaterina knows actresses from 'Kvartal' who dreamed of acting but never made it to cinema. She herself always aimed for cinema and series, not sketches.

'Everything that should be yours will be yours' — this phrase became her mantra. Now she understands that the path to a dream does not always lie through what seems obvious in the moment.

### Stand-up for veterans and creative freedom

Today Ekaterina actively develops two areas: acting and stand-up. For her, acting remains a priority, but stand-up gives more freedom, as everything depends only on herself. She wrote the material, went on stage — and if it is funny, people come.

A special place in her activities is occupied by work with veterans. Ekaterina organized the first stand-up night in Ukraine for military personnel and teaches them how to write jokes. This became for her a way to support those who went through the war and to show that humor is not only entertainment, but also a tool for healing.

### Boundaries of black humor during war

In the conversation, Ekaterina also touched on the topic of the boundaries of black humor in wartime conditions. She admits that the topic is complex, but believes that humor can be a way to cope with trauma and find support. The main thing is not to cross the line and respect the feelings of those who experienced the war.

Ekaterina Olos is an example of how personal transformation, discipline, and belief in oneself can lead to a true dream. Her story inspires not only creativity, but also work on oneself, refusal of unnecessary interventions, and the search for one's own path — even if it seems difficult in the moment.
