On Thursday, June 25, Kyiv residents faced an unexpected problem: emergency power outages began in several districts of the city. The situation unfolded rapidly — first, the left bank was left without electricity, then the restrictions spread to the right side of the capital.

### Technical Failure and Chaos on the Left Bank

The cause of the disruptions was a technical failure at one of the key energy facilities. Unlike scheduled maintenance, which is always announced in advance, these outages were carried out off-schedule. This particularly affected the left-bank districts, where the power went out suddenly, without warning to the population.

Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyivhorvodokanal, confirmed the complexity of the situation on social media, noting that technical issues in the energy system force the application of emergency measures for all categories of consumers.

### Fighting for Grid Stability

Information about the incident reached the media in the morning, around 10:20. Emergency repair crews have already begun to eliminate the breakdown. Energy workers are operating in the most urgent mode to stabilize the grid and return equipment to service. Restrictions will be lifted as soon as the system's operation normalizes.

Specialists are urging city residents who still have electricity to consume it as carefully as possible to avoid exacerbating the load on the grid.

### Risks of the Summer Season

The situation in Kyiv against the backdrop of the heat is causing concern. Vitaliy Zaychenko, head of the board of Ukrenergo, previously warned that while Ukraine has a chance to survive a hot summer without restrictions, risks remain. The main threat is not only equipment wear and tear but also attacks on the energy infrastructure.

Zaychenko emphasized that in the event of mass shelling, large-scale consumption restrictions are possible. During peak hours, especially in the evening, the system may balance by shedding load from consumers, and outages could last up to five hours. For now, Kyiv residents are advised to rely only on official announcements from DTEK and Ukrenergo.
