Elon Musk has announced a major upgrade to the capabilities of the Grok artificial intelligence. As part of the next stage of training, extensive engineering data from SpaceX will be integrated into the model. This decision fundamentally changes the approach to training neural networks, allowing the use of real-world, world-class data to solve complex technical tasks.

### SpaceX Data and Bypassing ITAR Restrictions

A key point of the announcement was the clarification of the nature of the uploaded data. Musk emphasized that the materials in question do not fall under ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) restrictions. This is a set of rules by the US Department of State that strictly controls the export and import of defense and space technologies. Thanks to this circumstance, xAI has gained access to a unique knowledge base that was previously unavailable for widespread use in commercial AI models.

According to the founder of SpaceX and X, the integration of this massive amount of information should noticeably enhance Grok's engineering capabilities. The model is expected to become significantly stronger in solving tasks requiring deep technical knowledge and calculations.

### Testing Against Competitors: Grok Build vs. Codex

The practical value of the update has already been confirmed during comparative testing. Developer Cory Rubin shared the results of experiments involving Grok Build and Codex. For several weeks, both systems performed complex programming and engineering calculation tasks.

The results were unambiguous: Rubin's team abandoned the use of Claude, and Grok Build demonstrated higher accuracy and required fewer additional clarifications from the user. Although Codex remains a strong tool, for specific tasks related to mathematics, data analysis, and the aerospace industry, Grok Build proved to be preferable.

Since July 20, the development team decided to make Grok Build their primary choice, acknowledging its superiority in engineering disciplines.

### New Horizons: Grok for Excel

Alongside the engineering update, xAI is expanding the functionality of its product in the corporate sector. Earlier, the company introduced Grok for Excel — a new integration that allows users to utilize the capabilities of the Grok 4.5 model directly within spreadsheets. This opens up new possibilities for data analysis right in the familiar working environment of accountants and analysts.

### Uniqueness of the xAI Ecosystem

Grok remains a unique player in the artificial intelligence market. Unlike analogs such as ChatGPT, Elon Musk's model is distinguished by access to real-time data from the X (Twitter) social network. Furthermore, Grok is positioned as an AI with less censorship and a proprietary rebellious sense of humor, making it attractive to a wide range of users seeking an alternative to traditional assistants.
