## 🎯 Key Points

- A 2.6-meter statue of Donald Trump titled 'The Orange Plague' was unveiled in the European Parliament.
- The sculpture is coated in gold leaf and depicts the president riding on the shoulders of an exhausted man.
- Discrepancies emerged in media reports regarding whether the statue was naked and its exact exhibition location.
- The installation serves as a satirical protest against US climate and foreign policies.

An unusual and provocative installation has appeared inside the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, capturing the widespread attention of lawmakers, guests, and the global press. Danish artist Jens Galschiøt presented a monumental 2.6-meter statue of US President Donald Trump, satirically titled 'The Orange Plague.' The artwork immediately became the centerpiece of a major three-day exhibition hosted within the walls of the European legislative body ahead of its conclusion on October 8, 2026.### Symbolism and Details of the Controversial Installation

The monument is crafted using 23-carat gold leaf, clearly highlighting the American politician's well-known penchant for luxurious and glittering decor. According to the artist's concept, Trump's figure sits on the shoulders of an exhausted and stooped man, symbolizing the oppressed segments of society or developing nations. In his hands, the president holds the scales of justice and a long golf club, while a tiny globe resembling a golf ball rests at the feet of the man carrying him. The artist noted that he aimed to create an image so dazzling and dominant that other people would be symbolically obliterated behind it.

### Contradictory Data

During the coverage of this exhibition in various international media outlets, noticeable discrepancies arose regarding the description of the installation's details and its exhibition location. For instance, several authoritative news aggregators and agencies claimed in their headlines and reports that the statue was displayed entirely 'naked' and erected directly 'outside' the European Parliament building in the open air. At the same time, official sources, including specialized European publications and the primary source itself, clarify that the sculpture was placed directly inside the main European institution's building in Strasbourg at the invitation of Danish MEP Per Clausen, and its artistic focus centers on the gold plating and authoritative posture rather than physical nudity.### Political Subtext and Public Reaction

According to Danish sculptor Jens Galschiøt himself, this work is a sharp and uncompromising satirical statement directed against the foreign and climate policies of the White House administration. The imagery refers viewers to Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairy tale 'The Emperor's New Clothes,' reminding everyone of the importance of maintaining a critical perspective on world leaders' actions. Exhibition visitors were able not only to appreciate the large-scale artwork but also to receive commemorative souvenirs: the author prepared about 20,000 miniature 3D-printed copies of the statue, which were actively distributed to guests and parliament staff. Previously, similar protest actions featuring this sculpture took place at the UN climate summit in Brazil and in Copenhagen, and next month it is scheduled to be showcased at the COP31 climate conference in Antalya, Turkey.
